In April I presented a 5 and a half day training on human trafficking at the New Life Vineyard Church with the Salvation Army and World Hope South Africa.
We had training for 25 caregivers and an awarness day for the whole church.
The training we presented was called FAAST (Faith Alliance Against Human Trafficking) The web site for FAAST International is:
www.faastinternational.org
This training is for the church and to present caregivers and was put together by the following International Organizations:
1. The Salvation Army U.S.National Headquarters
2. The Salvation Army World Service
3. World Hope South Africa
4. World Relief
5. Project Rescue - AGWM
We are looking ahead to 2010 when the World Cup will be happening in South Africa. When Germany hosted the 2006 FIFA World Cup there were approximately 40,000 women and children trafficked in for prostitution. So we believe we need to prepare the Church in South Africa and challenge them to be involved with what will be happening here at that time. The National Police commissioner Jackie Selebi (and some Organizations) suggested that prostitution should be legalized during and after the World Cup.
I am presently working with Errol Naidoo, who has started an Organization called Family Policy Institute, to form a policy on why prostitution should not be legaized or decrminilized, which when finished, he intends to take to all of the Pastors to be endorsed, plus the Jewish council and the Moslem council (who will also be apposed to the legaization of prostitution) and thewn he wants to take it to the Government.
